Job Description

Sperasoft seeks a Material Artist specializing in realism to create high-quality materials and textures. Responsibilities include producing outstanding materials using Substance Designer, Substance Painter, ZBrush, or other DCC software; collaborating with the Lead and Art Director to ensure materials meet art direction and technical requirements; working with Level Artists for material usability; maintaining material library integrity; setting up and testing materials in the engine; conducting research on industry trends and techniques; and adapting textures from stock repositories like Megascans. The ideal candidate possesses deep proficiency in Substance Designer, PBR, Maya (or similar), Megascans, and material optimization for real-time engines, along with excellent communication and strong problem-solving skills.

Description

Sperasoft is hiring a Material Artist for creating high-quality materials and textures, using our technical requirements, adapt textures from stock repositories such as Megascans to our pipelines, collaborating with the team to ensure technical compatibility, cohesive and visually appealing designs.

If you are passionate about materials creation, creating visually stunning (AAA-quality) assets and capable of understanding and following technical requirements and pipelines, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

  • Produce outstanding materials using Substance Designer, Substance Painter, ZBrush or DCC of your choice.
  • Work with the Lead and Art Director to ensure that materials match Art Direction, style, setting and target quality
  • Work closely with Level Artists to make materials that will be convenient for them to use.
  • Maintain integrity and uniformity of material library.
  • Setup materials in the engine and ensure they work correct and blend properly.
  • Be independent, do research and implement the latest industry trends and techniques.
  • Picking the right software for the job without focusing on Substance Designer specifically.

Requirements

  • Deep & highly proficient knowledge of Substance Designer
  • Knowledge of PBR and physically based material standards
  • High proficiency with Maya or similar
  • Experience with Megascans
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills
  • Autonomy and independence
  • Good eye for appropriate stylization and detail
  • Able to produce materials in a wide variety of styles and themes
  • At least one shipped title within the industry
  • Knowledge of material optimization for real time engines
  • Experience in creating textures for complex semi-procedural shaders
  • Knowledge about material blending systems
  • English level: intermediate
