What you’d be doing in this role

We are looking for a dynamic Head of Creative Production to lead our Production Studio, within the Canva Creative team. This is a 12 month fixed-term maternity cover contract, with potential opportunities for transitioning to permanent for the right fit.

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

• Lead a powerhouse Production Studio of 50 creative professionals, including producers, videographers, motion designers, and more, to deliver world-class creative content across TVCs, OOH, Social Media, Print, Live Events, and beyond.
• Oversee the entire production slate, managing high-profile campaigns like our global brand campaigns, our annual Canva Create event, and others in collaboration with our Group Operations Director, Production Operations Director, and Executive Creative Director.
• Innovate production processes and workflows, ensuring efficiency while elevating craft and quality in all creative outputs.
• Act as a mentor and coach to senior team members (currently of about 3-4), fostering growth, creativity, and a collaborative team culture.
• Build and nurture relationships with vendors and external partners, ensuring seamless execution during high-volume periods.
• Strategically manage budgets and resources to deliver impactful, on-brand content that connects with Canva’s global audience.

• Proven leader: You have 10+ years of experience in creative production, with at least 5 years leading teams in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
• Coaching experience: You bring experience mentoring team members, with a proven ability to coach and develop leaders (this role will coach 3-4 team members).
• Change management: You excel at managing change, rallying teams around new directions, and ensuring successful adoption of processes or strategies.
• Stakeholder management: You're adept at navigating complex stakeholder environments, working assertively yet collaboratively with both internal and external contacts.
• Ambiguity navigator: You thrive in complexity, knowing the right questions to ask to guide teams and align efforts toward success.
• Collaborative mindset: You have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams and external partners, fostering collaboration across all levels.

The Production Studio is the heart of our creative execution, blending artistry with strategy to produce impactful, engaging content for a global audience. We’re champions of innovation, problem-solving, and multi-channel thinking, and we love to collaborate to bring bold ideas to life.

As the lead of the Production Studio team, you’ll direct a powerhouse team of creative producers, motion designers, photographers, videographers and editors. We produce world-class creative content that is impactful and engaging for our global community and looks and feels unmistakably Canva.
