Job Summary

Job Description

Soap Central, a leading website for US daytime dramas, seeks an Entertainment Writer to create 4-5 articles daily, covering scripted content including movie and TV show reviews. The role requires thorough research, monitoring entertainment news and social media trends, pitching story ideas, and meeting deadlines. Real-time coverage of off-field angles and sports entertainment is also needed. This contract position demands strong time management and independent work skills, with a preference for candidates with 2+ years of experience in entertainment reporting and familiarity with industry terms.

The Opportunity

Experience: 6+ months

Role: Contract

As an Entertainment Writer, you will be covering scripted content, writing features and news pieces on them.

Key Responsibilities:

Write 4-5 articles a day.
Review movies/ TV shows (thorough research skills mandatory).
Monitor day-to-day sport entertainment news and keep tabs on social media trends, become familiar with Google Trends.
Pitch interesting story ideas.
Open to feedback from the editorial team.
Able to meet deadlines, available for real-time coverage of off field angles and sports entertainment pieces as and when they’re pushed out.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in English/ Journalism/ Mass communication is preferred.
Has at least 2 years of experience in entertainment reporting.
Understands industry terms and has previous success in breaking entertainment reporting.
Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
Willing to work in the night shift (7PM to 3AM IST).
