A career within Corporate and Business Strategy services will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients make an impact on the lives of their beneficiaries, clients, and society. As part of PwC’s ‘New Equation’ strategy, Strategy& advises our clients’ leadership teams on how to transform their businesses in the face of increasingly complex economic, environmental, social and geopolitical factors. We work collaboratively with senior executives to help them increase trust and deliver sustainable outcomes that make a positive impact on their business and society.



As part of our Strategy& practice - our Private Equity and Pensions team will provide you with an opportunity to work with some of the largest and most complex asset owners, asset managers, and alternative asset managers in the world. Our team engages with clients on all strategic and operational aspects of an investment manager to enable our clients to develop winning, sustainable, and impactful strategies. We analyze the critical trends in investments and pension funds and explore new approaches to help our clients make tough choices to grow and sustain their advantages. We provide strategic advice and support to our clients at the portfolio, business unit, and corporate level on navigating megatrends, operating model transformation, cost optimization, tech and data modernization, AI and emerging technologies, operational strategy, digital strategy, culture, and ESG and sustainability.



As part of Strategy&, you will lead work across large-scale pension funds, asset managers, private equity, and other large-scale institutional investors and financial services companies.

Meaningful work you’ll be part of  

As a Director in Private Equity & Pensions - Corporate Strategy, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues by developing pragmatic and sustainable strategies that are executable and have an impact. Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Work with leading maple 8 and other top pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, asset managers, and alternative asset managers in Canada and globally 

  • Lead engagements with clients across a broad range of topics such as growth strategy, ESG and sustainability, digital strategy, culture and much more 

  • Manage day-to-day activities and delivery across broader client teams 

  • Contribute knowledge of asset management, pension funds, private equity and/or alternative investments as well as broader buy-side ecosystem (e.g. service providers) 

  • Deal effectively with ambiguous and unstructured problems and situations 

  • Encourage everyone to have a voice and invite opinions from all 

  • Initiate open and candid coaching conversations at all levels 

  • Move easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detail 

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to generate insights 

  • Anticipate stakeholder needs, and develop and discuss potential solutions, even before the stakeholder realizes they are required 

  • Use straightforward, concise, and compelling communication, in a structured way, when influencing others 

  • Analyze complex quantitative and qualitative data in an efficient manner and synthesizing the output into meaningful and actionable insights 

  • Navigate the complexities of cross-border and/or diverse teams and engagements 

  • Initiate and lead open conversations with teams, clients and stakeholders to build trust 

  • Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve  

  • Deep knowledge and understanding in a professional services or in-house strategy environment at a Consulting firm in a business transformation, strategic planning function, chief of staff or similar roles 

  • 10 years+ of investment management in a Consulting firm obtained through consulting experience with large scale asset owners, asset managers, or alternative asset managers 

  • Demonstrated expertise acquired through completion of relevant industry certifications including, but not limited to, CFA, CAIA, IMC Certificate is desirable 

  • Experience leading complex transformational and/or modernization programs built around technology solutions 

  • Demonstrated credibility in influencing, selling and developing business within the investment management sectors or related financial services clients  

  • Capability to hunt in packs and identify and pursue new business opportunities, and support client development in collaboration with the broader team and PwC network  

  • Using first principles thinking, can develop credible and pragmatic analytical approaches, frameworks and methodologies 

  • Experience developing technology strategies and roadmaps, including comfort with various frameworks and methodologies, to enable the client to deliver as-is, future state and transformed services 

  • Ability to develop and deliver effective and organized communication in written and verbal form to senior audiences with appropriate persuasiveness and sensitivity 

  • Established ability to deliver quality work on time and within budget 

  • Willingness to build productive relationships with team members and clients, both long term and day-to-day 

  • Ability to manage through influence across all levels of internal and external stakeholders 

  • Passionate about attracting, retaining, and developing staff / team members 

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to delivering long-term results that are beneficial to our clients and our firm 

  • Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in managing work-life balance of self and team members 

  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences, developing and coaching diverse teams, and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard
