Summary

ABC News seeks a Graphic Designer for a one-hour broadcast show. Responsibilities include creating keyable segment stills and montages, editing photos, building fullscreen and keyable elements for show opens and teases, animating quotes and subtitles, designing 3D book cover animations, developing segment graphics (animations, lower thirds, bugs, backgrounds), providing files to the set design team, handling last-minute requests, building elements for sales and digital/social media, managing graphics templates, and archiving projects. The designer will collaborate with the graphics team, broadcast director, associate directors, producers, and crew. Proficiency in Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator is crucial.
Must have:
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator
  • Motion graphic design skills
  • 3D and 2D animation experience
  • Experience creating for TV and online
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Job Summary:

ABC News is looking for a graphic designer for a long standing, one hour broadcast show. This individual would contribute their strong, creative design skills to the forward-thinking graphics team. They should be a designer who can work independently and with the graphics team as well as broadcast director, associate directors, producers, and crew.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build keyable segment stills and montages - transfer to Xpression operator for playback
  • Field and address legal & editorial Photoshop edits of stills - transfer to Xpression operator for playback
  • Build fullscreen and keyable elements for show open/teases - deliver to editors
  • Build full screen quote animations and subtitles – deliver to editors
  • Build 3D book cover animations for teases and segments – deliver to edit/Xpression playback
  • Work on upcoming segment graphics for set and fullscreen (animations, lower thirds, bugs, backgrounds)
  • Provide files to set design team for printing
  • Build last minute segment producer requests (segment titles, game graphics, etc.)
  • Build elements for sales segments and digital/social media team
  • Send evening tease checklist items and keyable credits to edit
  • Manage graphics templates for the department throughout the season
  • Archive old projects

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator
  • motion graphic design; modeling/animating/rendering in 3D and 2D environments
  • Cinema 4D (or comparable 3D software) experience is a plus
  • Previous experience creating for tv, and online productions is a plus
  • Understanding of television control room workflow and operations is a plus
  • Ability to multitask and perform professionally at the highest levels under stress and tight deadlines


The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $67,500.00 to $90,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
