The Aircraft Avionics Apprentice Technician at CAE's NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program in Moose Jaw, SK, is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and testing aviation avionics and egress systems. Responsibilities include removing and replacing line replaceable units, performing maintenance shop work, interpreting technical publications, maintaining tools and equipment, ordering spare parts, conducting flight line servicing, and debriefing team leads. The role requires teamwork, communication skills, shift work, and some travel. Successful candidates must obtain a Canadian security clearance and meet US ITAR compliance requirements. The program trains military pilots using Beechcraft T-6 and BAE Systems Hawk aircraft.

CAE is a global leader in training for civil aviation, defence and security, and healthcare.  CAE is the prime contractor responsible for the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program, in Moose Jaw, SK, that produces qualified military pilots for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and other global defence customers. CAE operates the NFTC base facilities, delivers the ground-school classroom and simulator training, and supports the live flying training on a fleet of Beechcraft T-6 (CT-156 Harvard) trainer aircraft and BAE Systems Hawk (CT-155 Hawk) lead-in fighter trainer aircraft. RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Aircraft Technician is responsible for conduction all servicing and maintenance tasks.

  • In your role, you will:
  • Inspects, maintains, repairs, and test aviation avionics and egress systems.
  • Remove and replace line replaceable units and components.
  • Perform specialty work in maintenance shops as required.
  • Interpret technical publications and diagrams.
  • Maintain tools and equipment required to perform primary duties.
  • Order aircraft spare parts and materials to ensure sufficient supplies are available.
  • Conduct flight line servicing operations.
  • Debrief Team Lead as required.
  • Carry out workplace inspections and clean ups.

Education

  • Completion of a Transport Canada Approved AME-E course

Experience

  • Experience in an aviation environment and/or flight line experience preferred.

Candidate Must:

  • Have proven experience as a team player.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able to work shifts; some travel required.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Have knowledge of aerospace design and maintenance practices. 
  • Must be able to obtain a Reliability security clearance from the Government of Canada
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada, either as a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or valid Work Permit.

Candidate must successfully pass and maintain a security evaluation per the requirements of the Controlled Goods Directorate of Canada and to CAE being able to obtain all necessary re-transfer authorization in compliance with US ITAR regulations.
