The WDI Project Controls Estimating Intern will assist senior estimators in preparing cost estimates for theme park facilities, shows, and rides. Responsibilities include reviewing historical cost data, calculating project takeoffs, maintaining project files, and evaluating design documentation. The intern will work under direct supervision, collaborating with project management, contractors, and subcontractors. The internship runs from May/June 2025 to August/September 2025 in Orlando, FL. This role offers hands-on experience in estimating techniques and cost control within a renowned entertainment company.
Must have:
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques
  • Ability to interpret cost data
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to read construction drawings
  • Construction Management/Engineering/Architecture/Engineering degree
Good to have:
  • Relevant estimating experience
  • Active membership in industry organizations

The approximate date of this internship is May/June 2025 through August/September 2025 and will be located in Orlando, FL.

What You Will Do

As an Estimating intern, you will be responsible for preparing estimates for facility, shows, and rides throughout our project lifecycles and will work under the immediate direction of a Project Senior or Principal Estimator. You will have the opportunity to: 

  • Review and incorporate historical cost data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into estimates. 
  • Assist in preparing estimates by calculating complete takeoffs of a project scope of work 
  • Maintain files for all working documents and data as back up to estimate figures 
  • Assist in evaluating all design documentation and provide trend estimates and analyses against current EFC/Budget estimate during design phase 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost controls 
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems 
  • Proficiency in PC programs (MS Office Suite) 
  • Ability to work successfully with all levels of management, all project team members (project management, contractors, sub-contractors etc.) to achieve team goals 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings 
     

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Relevant estimating experience 
  • Active membership in industry related organizations 

Education:  

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior from an accredited college/university, earning a degree majoring Construction Management/Engineering, Architecture or Engineering. 

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship​ 
  • Be at least 18 years of age​ 
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization​ 
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program

  • Able to provide reliable transportation to/from work
  • Fully available for the duration of the internship

The pay rate for this role in Orlando, FL is $30 per hour for undergraduate students, $35 per hour for graduate students.
