Job Description

Onward Search is seeking a Software Engineer for a 6-month, fully remote contract position with a Fintech client. Working EST or CST hours, the role involves designing, developing, and implementing solutions for the Universal Identity Manager. Responsibilities include developing high-performance Java applications (Spring, Spring Boot, Struts), implementing batch and real-time data solutions, ensuring application performance in hybrid cloud/on-premises environments, and collaborating with the team using Agile methodologies. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of Java experience, cloud experience (AWS), proficiency with REST APIs, and experience with data processing systems. Experience with Kafka, NoSQL databases, and Agile frameworks is a plus.

This is a fully remote, 6-month contract role that requires working in EST or CST hours.

As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and implementation of solutions for the Universal Identity Manager. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Java-based applications, cloud environments, and data processing systems. Key Responsibilities

Software Development
Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java applications with a focus on data quality and scalability.
Implement both batch and real-time data solutions to support the Universal Identity Manager.
Ensure high availability and performance of applications in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.

Collaboration & Agile Work

Collaborate closely with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, and team members to refine and document user stories during backlog grooming.

Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment and ongoing maintenance.

Qualifications

Technical Skills
5+ years of experience with Java frameworks, including Spring, Spring Boot, and Struts.
2+ years of experience developing applications in cloud environments.
Proficiency with AWS services such as Amazon S3, EMR, EKS, EC2, and Lambda.
Hands-on experience with REST APIs in cloud environments.
Familiarity with message queuing and event-streaming platforms like Kafka is a plus.
Knowledge of NoSQL databases and distributed database concepts.
Strong understanding of both streaming and batch data processing systems.
Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Octopus is a plus.
Bonus: Experience with .NET programming.

Process Knowledge

Experience working within Agile frameworks such as Scrum.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

5+ years of experience in a software development or computing environment.

To qualify for our benefits package, you must work over 30 hours per week and the length of assignment must be a minimum of 10 weeks.
