Activision's Central Technology group seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer (contractor) to contribute to the Call of Duty® franchise. Responsibilities include updating lightmapped model pipelines, optimizing asset processing, collaborating across disciplines (asset editors, infrastructure, game engine), and meeting feature/performance goals. The role demands 10+ years of C++ programming experience in game development, expertise in game asset processing pipelines, deep knowledge of meshes, lightmaps, and graphics, and a proven track record of shipping high-quality code. The ideal candidate is creative, results-oriented, and a strong communicator, ready to lead critical projects.

Your Mission

Activision is searching for a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join its Central Technology group as a contractor. This is a position where you’ll be learning and working in a friendly and inclusive environment alongside some of the best game creators in the world. You will help us craft the next generation of the massively successful Call of Duty® series of games. 

What you bring to the table

The video game industry and therefore our business is fast-paced and will continue to evolve. As such, the duties and responsibilities of this role may be changed as directed by the Company at any time to promote and support our business and relationships with industry partners. Therefore, this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:  

  • Update the pipeline for lightmapped models. How they are parameterized, simplified and fed to downstream parts of the pipeline. 
  • Work across the entire pipeline, from asset editors to infrastructure to the game engine. 
  • Work with other disciplines to achieve the game’s feature and performance goals. 
  • What does the future hold for game tech? We need you to help us find out! 

Player Profile  

Minimum requirements:

Experience  

  • 10+ years’ experience working as a C++ programmer in the game industry or a related field.
  • Industry-leading expertise in game asset processing pipelines
  • Deep knowledge of meshes, lightmaps and graphics.
  • Demonstrated track record of shipping high quality code

Knowledge & Skills  

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $206,000.00 - $381,004.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
