(Senior) Materials Artist - 12 month contract.

We are Media Molecule, a multi-award winning game developer and a proud member of the PlayStation Studios family. We have a history of creating revolutionary games such as LittleBigPlanet, Tearaway and most recently, the BAFTA Award winning Dreams. It’s a fantastic time to join us as we embark on our next adventure, defining and executing the vision for our next ambitious project and settling into our spectacular, newly refurbished studio in central Guildford. We are now searching for an exceptional (Senior) Materials Artist to join us! You will have a solid understanding of modern texturing/surfacing systems, will be comfortable following a concept in detail and able to apply your keen visual skills to a wide range of artistic styles.

Your main tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Use procedural techniques to create complex, editable materials
  • Build and maintain our material asset pipeline including optimisation for use in engine
  • Work with the Art team to maintain consistent high-quality materials throughout our games
  • Build custom tools in Substance Designer and build pipeline from Designer to other tools
  • Create custom generators, smart materials and brushes in Designer for use in Painter
  • Create documentation and tutorials to share with the wider team

What you'll bring:

  • Experience of at least one full game production cycle in a similar role

  • Extensive knowledge of Substance Designer
