Summary

Mattel seeks a Principal Solution Architect for Global SIOP & Planning systems. The role also encompasses business continuity, system operations, issue resolution, and process optimization, ensuring alignment with customer requirements. Experience with Anaplan and Blue Yonder is preferred.

Global Supply Chain System, in the Global Technology Organization (GTO), manages the overall performance and delivery of projects covering the Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, Consumer Services, and Sustainability portfolios. This team is the main liaison between our business partners and our IT support and development teams. We ensure application stability through our outsourced production support vendor and deliver technology capabilities that transform our business operations in partnership with the supply chain teams globally.

Job Description

The Opportunity: 

Mattel is currently seeking a Principal Solution Architect for Global SIOP & Planning systems. The role will be part of the Global Technology Organization and report to the Director, Global Technology Organization. 

Remote candidates are required to travel 25% (once a week). Relocation to Corporate in El Segundo, CA is preferred. For local candidates, onsite presence is needed unless approved by manager

The Global SIOP & Planning systems, help support business operations to drive Inventory optimization, Just in time inventory replenishment of our products in global markets and fulfill our customer and consumer demands.

This position drives system solutioning and design to support modernization of business processes across the geographies for Global SIOP & Planning in collaboration with the Manufacturing, Commerical teams and the broader Mattel organization.  This individual will be responsible for evaluating systems, processes, and requirements and proposing system and process improvements. This role will lead technical discovery, business analysis, and solutioning with key business and GTO partners to gather a detailed understanding of requested changes, develop and strategize solutions that support business needs, and drive implementation with vendors and internal IT partners.

This role will manage technical resources including Mattel service providers and software providers. The Technical Business Solution Architect will need to partner with business stakeholders on process harmonization and requirements, with the enterprise architects on solution alignment, and with our developers to deliver capabilities that are aligned with our business strategy and goals.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

 

New Capability Deployment

  • Work closely with the Senior Manager, business leadership and personnel in technology modernization initiatives across all phases of the IT project lifecycle (analysis, design, build, test, deploy)
  • Lead requirements and design discussion with IT and business resources; be able to demonstrate the primary features and functionalitys of an application and how it works and communicate impact to the business processes and users
  • Work side-by-side with the Senior Manager and GTO teams to identify technical solutions that help support business priorities and requirements
  • Apply leading practices to requirements, solution architecture, and facilitating the development of to-be processes to be deployed on the modernized Anaplan and Blue Yonder Planning solutions which effectively support Mattel’s Global SIOP & Planning operations
  • Effectively partner with third party resources in planning and delivery of assigned initiatives
  • Support go-live preparation and production rollout activities
  • Support business driven projects that integrate with both on-premise systems and cloud-based SaaS solutions
  • Project management following the Mattel Operating Model
  • Recommend and implement changes to applications and processes that meet business requirements or make them more efficient
  • Be an integral part of future upgrade and implementation project teams that will modernize or improve business systems and operations

Business Continuity

Support Global SIOP & Planning system operations

  • Identify and address IT issues as primary point of contact and optimize infrastructure, hardware, software and processes, in close partnership with the GSC business team and driving GTO dependencies
  • Ensure proper processes and document requirements are being followed across the Consumer affairs, Sustainability, and Quality organization
  • Engage in rigorous root cause analysis, problem solving and solution implementations
  • Ensure system processes work in a manner that adheres to customer requirements
  • Maintain and update systems and data – combination of legacy systems and Salesforce platforms
  • Ability to identify systems problems, solution fixes, present to leadership, and implement  changes

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems or a related field
  • 12+ years related experience in Technology/Operations serving end customers
  • In-depth 12+ year of functional and technical solution knowledge in Blue Yondar Enterprise Supply Planning (ESP) system and/or Anaplan modeling and/or Google Cloud Platform preferred
  • Training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work remote, but should be open to travel as needed (Up to 25%).
  • Experience in managing small to medium-size projects and leading team efforts
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed organization to drive outcomes
  • Prior experience in fast-paced technology implementations
  • Responsible for understanding and translating the business’ requirements into actionable IT solutions while support the design review, unit, system, and user acceptance testing
  • Skilled at documenting the current state and future state business processes - performs business process gap analysis
  • Must have working knowledge in the following domains: SIOP, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Inventory Planning, Analytics/Reporting
  • Experience with compliance documentation management and support
  • Experience with legacy as well as modern systems including Anaplan, BY Planning suite etc
  • Analytical and reporting skills such as creating dashboards and establishing KPIs such as experience with PowerBI, Cognos, Tableau, and Google Data Lake is preferred
  • Experience with middleware components and capabilities, preferrably with NodeJS, Kafka, and similar software tools
  • Knowledge and experience with deploying operating systems, applications, patch management and desired configurations
  • Expert in application support including problem analysis and resolution
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking mindset
  • Expert relationship management/networking skills
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable presenting to business stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Should be able to work independently under minimal supervision and be a good team player
