Job Description

As a Principal Software Engineer - Cloud Connector, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing functionality for Zscaler Cloud Connector. This role involves partnering with product management to define product requirements and software design specifications, implementing bug-free code using a test-driven methodology, and collaborating with other engineering teams. You will also be responsible for diagnosing complex customer issues and leading a group of junior engineers.
Must have:
  • 12+ years software development experience
  • Proficiency in Python or Golang
  • Data structures, Algorithms & debugging skills
  • Unix/Linux Kernel & file system knowledge
  • Networking protocols and services knowledge
  • Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP networking
  • BS degree in CS/CE or equivalent
Good to have:
  • C coding skills
  • Familiarity with Identity management and authentication
  • Knowledge of Firewall policy enforcement

As a Principal Software Engineer - Cloud Connector, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing functionality for ZScaler Cloud Connector. Cloud Connector provides Zero Trust Security for workloads, hosted in a public cloud environment either for cloud-cloud, cloud to private datacenter traffic communications.

We're looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our ZTNA team. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Engineering, you'll be responsible for:

  • Partner with Product Management to guide detailed product requirements and define software design specifications and implement bug free code using test-driven methodology.
  • Look for opportunities to refactor existing code in the interests of maintainability and reusability and collaborate with other engineering teams (security, UI, platform, analytics and quality assurance)
  • Diagnose complex customer issues and take ownership of issue resolution
  • Lead a group of junior engineers on technical guidance, mentoring and also help with development details.

What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Minimum 12+ years software development experience building large-scale public cloud commercial networking and security applications and experience with software design concepts
  • Proficiency coding in either Python or Golang is required, along with data structures/Algorithms & debugging skills in cloud environment along with Unix/Linux Kernel & file system knowledge
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and services - DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS and experience working with AWS/Azure/GCP networking, namely - transit gateway, IGW, NATGW, NACL, security groups. GWLB, ILB, Route53, Azure DNS.
  • Should also build for cloud scale and performance including leveraging services like auto scaling group for dynamic workload traffic profiles
  • BS degree in CS/CE or equivalent is required. In addition, U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to the nature of the customers assigned to this role.

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • C coding skills
  • Familiarity with Identity management and authentication, and/or knowledge of Firewall policy enforcement and traffic forwarding rules and good
  • Prior experience with building solutions for 'software as a Service' platform and solving for workload segmentation requirements by applying cloud native infrastructure services.

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range
$175,000$250,000 USD
