The Manager, Technology & Digital (Software Engineering) will be responsible to own the end-to-end delivery and sustainment of both custom built and off the shelf Software products for Disney Cruise Line. In addition, will assist Cast member teams in managing priorities, removing roadblocks, and mentoring cast for career growth.  This role will also partner with key stakeholders (Product, Operations, Design, Project Management, etc.) in the delivery of key initiatives from initial concept through funding approval to project completion.

Lead and direct a team of software and system engineers to ensure the DCL Logistics, Medical and Safety & Quality Management applications portfolio are designed for highest quality of Guest and Cast experience including but not limited to a goal of 100% availability, stable and reliable to achieve business objectives and ensure seamless experience.

The candidate must possess the ability to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, to business sponsors and partners, technical resources, and executives, in clear concise language that is the effective for each respective group.

The Manager must be able to manage competing priorities between Capital and Expense initiatives including application stability (incidents), security vulnerabilities and remediation, problem solutions and new business capabilities.  An ability to balance technology and business priorities is key for this role.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead initiatives within the DCL Application portfolio related to Logistics, Medical and Safety & Quality Management systems to deliver custom and off the shelf applications.
  • Responsible for leading estimation, planning, and oversight of the technical development being performed by both internal and vendor led teams.
  • Work closely with leadership within Technology, Business, and Finance to understand strategic goals and objectives and deliver the technology solutions that meet those goals.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance to ensure that processes, systems, and ongoing development are meeting all compliance requirements and guidelines.
  • Be the primary point of contact for internal business and vendor partners.
  • Drive recommendations/decisions for buy versus build, vendor, and product selections, in partnership with Architecture and System Engineering teams.
  • Be a key stakeholder in Annual Operating Planning and Long-Term Capital Planning for Application Product Portfolio

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in Information Technology with at least 5 years solutioning / delivering medium to large technology projects.
  • Proven track record on innovation and applying practical solutions to complex business problems to drive superior outcomes
  • Demonstrated expertise in design and implementation of business-critical systems involving enterprise-scale solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to work effectively across a wide range of constituencies in a diverse corporate and client environment.
  • Inclusive leadership approach which embraces diversity.
  • Ability to manage and work on multiple priorities
  • Ability to communicate and influence executives to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Prior experience working within a Technology organization
  • Proficient in Agile methodology
  • Proven track record in delivering projects on time and budget
  • Manage projects in a multi-vendor environment including offshore teams.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience
