 Employment Specialist functions as an integral member of a dynamic team to provide a wide variety of employment services to refugees and immigrants who need assistance finding a job, learning about the American workplace, and developing life and job skills. This position works directly with clients, employers, World Relief staff, and other community partners including the Department of Social and Health Services.

Role & Responsibilities

    • Engaging fully in creating a supportive, enthusiastic, life-giving work environment at World Relief Spokane
    • Contacting clients on assigned caseload directly at least one time every month
    • Ensuring clients on assigned caseload are in compliance with program requirements:
    • Maintaining and submitting adequate job search logs according to program guidelines
    • Attending job club, workshops, classes and/or other required activities
    • Meeting monthly with case manager
    • Providing job search, job and life skills training services to clients
    • Maintaining required case notes in Dynamics and EJAS
    • Assisting clients with resume writing, job applications, interview prep, cultural and employment orientation and other employment related activities, WA State food benefit applications and renewals, unemployment applications or claims, childcare applications/interviews, food handlers permit, etc.
    • Knowing and complying with service provision requirements for your employment contract including the handling of highly confidential information (PPI)
    • Providing transportation for clients, using company owned vehicles, to interviews and other employment related activities
    • Creating and maintaining client files for program/contract compliance •
    • Creating referrals to other WR departments and appropriate outside agencies as needed
    • Providing training to interns, volunteers, and incoming Employment Services staff as requested by Supervisor.

    • Technical Skills including proficiency with MS Office applications and data entry

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
·         The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-15 pounds.
·         Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.
·         The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
 
·         General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.
·         Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.
·         Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
·         Physical, emotional and intellectual demands
·         Equipment used: Employee computer (desktop or laptop), printer, and copier.
