The Data Center Operations Manager oversees a team of Data Center Technicians, ensuring the quality installation and troubleshooting of server hardware and components. Responsibilities include managing the implementation of projects, communicating priorities across shifts, hiring and developing team members, and driving a safe and inclusive work environment. The role involves working with various operating systems (like Linux), network architecture, and server software, while ensuring data center priorities align with company objectives. This position requires experience in computing infrastructure, networking, and managing technical teams. The manager will also be involved in leading small project teams and developing project contingency plans.

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware.
- 2 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor or contract management and delivery.
- Experience with different operating systems (e.g., Linux).
- Experience with developing network architecture.
- Ability to work non-standard hours and differing rotations/shifts.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in data center environments, including building and operating large-scale infrastructure, and network and compute architecture and lifecycle, and Linux/Unix system administration.
- Experience with initiating and executing initiatives in a global environment.
- Experience installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting and maintaining hardware servers and its components.
- Ability to lead and improve Environmental Health and Safety initiatives.
- Excellent performance with data gathering, analysis and presentation skills.

The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology.In this role, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians. You will oversee the quality installation of server hardware and components and take charge of installations/troubleshooting. You will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware such as servers and its components and server software such as Google's Linux cluster. You will also take on the configuration of more components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. You will lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $99,000-$145,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day management of teams within data center operations.
- Work together to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for our global computing and network architecture.
- Manage the implementation of projects within the team. Communicate priorities and facilitate hand-off of operations to following shift leads.
- Hire, coach and develop a team while achieving business goals. Demonstrate the ability to implement and drive the safety culture at the site, while fostering an inclusive, diverse and collaborative team environment
- Ensure data center-related priorities are consistent with company objectives.
