Job Description

Sportskeeda seeks a College Football Writer to produce 80-90 articles monthly (features, listicles, news, interviews). Responsibilities include collaborating on content strategy, ensuring factual accuracy, pitching ideas, tracking NFL trends (Google Trends etc.), and staying updated on NFL news. The ideal candidate possesses 2-4 years' experience covering NFL or college football, strong content strategy skills, in-depth game knowledge (tactics, trades, salary caps, fantasy football), and excellent time management. A personal network within the NFL ecosystem is a plus.

Must have:

1+ years NFL/College Football writing experience
80-90 articles/month
Content strategy, editing, topic ideation
In-depth game knowledge
Excellent time management

Good to have:

Knowledge of betting odds
NFL ecosystem network (players, coaches)

The Opportunity

Experience: 1+ year of experience

Role:Contract

Key Responsibilities:

Writing 80-90 articles per month (features, listicles, news or independently-sourced interviews)
Working with a team of writers to ideate topics, developing a focused, data-driven content strategy with the Content Manager, and providing direction to new content ideas.
Review content for factual accuracy and general accuracy of grammar and context. Ensuring that content is written as per Sportskeeda’s guidelines & checking spellings, grammar & scope of the text
Pitch story ideas and assist the vertical lead with content strategy/plan for events.
Track topics around the NFL via Google Trends and other tools
All news within the shift should be covered within the mentioned time and nothing should be left for the next shift.
Help with sourcing stories via podcasts, shows and tier 1 news outlets
Stay updated with the latest news and developments around the NFL.
Provide any other content-related assistance that may be required for any other articles/static pages
Help in growing the NFL section of Sportskeeda.

Requirements

Candidates with prior reasonable experience (2-4 years) covering/writing about the NFL or College Football should apply.
Content strategy, editing and topic ideation is a must-have skill.
Staying updated with recent developments in and around the NFL - players, coaches, teams (especially top teams), etc.
In-depth game knowledge – especially on tactics, trade movements, salary caps for teams, fantasy football and player contracts
Knowledge of betting odds, spreads, and other match odds is a plus
A personal network across the NFL ecosystem (players, coaches, etc.) is a plus
Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently as well as within a team.
