Summary

As a Cloud Engineer, you'll provide technical guidance to customers adopting Google Cloud Platform (GCP), focusing on secure cloud implementations, automated provisioning, and cloud-ready architectures. You'll offer best practices, ensure optimal GCP usage, and guide customers through migration, building, modernization, and maintenance of applications. Collaboration with Product Management and Engineering to enhance GCP products is also key. Responsibilities include translating business requirements into database solutions, leading data migrations, implementing data governance procedures, troubleshooting storage systems, and managing projects with clear goals and objectives. This role requires strong database expertise and experience with Google Cloud native databases.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent
  • 4+ years automating infrastructure
  • Experience designing cloud solutions
  • Coding experience (Python, Java, Go, C/C++)
  • Data migration experience
  • Database troubleshooting
Good to have:
  • Large-scale data migration experience
  • Database design principles
  • Encryption techniques (symmetric, asymmetric, HSMs)
  • Experience with Cloud Spanner, Cloud BigTable, AlloyDB
  • Data security knowledge

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience automating infrastructure provisioning, DevOps, continuous integration, or delivery.
  • Experience designing cloud enterprise solutions and supporting customer projects to completion.
  • Experience coding in one or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C or C++) including data structures, algorithms, and software design.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in designing and performing large scale data migrations using various tools and services.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues.
  • Experience in database design principles, data modeling, and the ability to translate business requirements into efficient database structures.
  • Experience with encryption techniques like symmetric, asymmetric, HSMs, and envelop, and ability to implement secure key storage using key management system.
  • Knowledge and experience in Google Cloud native databases like Cloud Spanner, Cloud BigTable and AlloyDB.
  • Understanding of data security measures and encryption techniques.

  • Interact with stakeholders to translate complex business and technical requirements into recommendations for scalable and cost-effective database solutions and advisory services.
  • Engage with technical leads and partners to lead high velocity data migration and modernization to GCP using Google or third-party tools and services.
  • Develop and implement data quality and governance procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
  • Work with customer or partner teams to troubleshoot their complex storage systems for potential performance challenges.
  • Take various project requirements and organize them into clear goals and objectives, and create a work breakdown structure to manage internal and external stakeholders.
