Job Description
As an Android Engineer at Sporty, you will own and maintain existing Android applications, releasing new versions across multiple regions. You will build new features, design UIs for various sporting events, and work collaboratively with a global team. The role requires experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and other Android development technologies. You will be responsible for the entire application lifecycle, from networking to user interfaces, including data modeling, synchronization, and concurrency. Must have:
- 3+ years Android development experience using Kotlin or Java
- Experience with full application lifecycle development
- Proficiency in UI design and development
- Experience with multithreading, mobile memory management

About The Role
With tens of millions of visitors every week, we strive to be the best in the industry for our users. You’ll be responsible for taking ownership of our existing Android applications implementing new features, building new UI pages, testing the applications and releasing into new regions to align with our growth plans all whilst working with a Globally spread team.
Your Day-to-day
- Take ownership and responsibility of our existing Android applications
- Facilitate and release new versions of apps in several new regions
- Build new end to end features on our platforms
- Create new UIs to stay on top of various sporting events Globally (World Cup, Football Euros, Olympics etc)
Our stack: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Jenkins, Glide, Git, ExoPlayer, MVVM
You should apply if you have
- 3+ years experience writing clean code in Kotlin or Java for Android applications
- Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels from networking up to user interfaces and everything in between
- Working on mobile application architecture, including data modelling, networking and data synchronization and concurrency
- Experience with multithreading programming and mobile memory management
- Sporty is an English speaking working environment, so we are looking for English speakers
Our interview process involves 3 main stages:
- Hackerrank test (Maximum of 90 minutes)
- A call with a member of our Talent team
- Final interview with our Android Engineering team (You’ll meet with 3 engineers on separate occasions for 45 minutes each)
We can confidently say that we have a feedback loop of 24-48 hours on all stages, so you’ll never be left in the dark when you’re in process with us.
