About the company

Dashtoon is a seed funded startup backed by marquee investors, and is on a mission to reinvent comics creation and consumption, using generative AI technology. We follow the standard webtoon creation process where we create storyboards from scripts , but we use our in-house generative AI based tool to help in the colouring process. This helps our artists convert storyboards to final comics in ~1 day.

About the Role

As a storyboard artist, you will work on multiple comics projects to create vertical format webtoon storyboards which will be used to create the final comic strips. You will work closely with the AI artists to understand how the storyboards can be made better to improve the efficiency of the overall image generation process. You will be expected to learn storyboarding best practices from webtoons and improve your vertical storyboarding skill

Roles and Responsibilities

• Understanding the comic, its genre and the characters in depth
• Creating storyboards to accurately depict the story from the text script using Photoshop/ Clip Studio Paint
• Adding vertical storyboarding elements to create the final webtoon panels
• Ensure the consistency and quality of output produced to help accelerate the image generation process of AI artists

Mandatory Skills

• Basic understanding of storyboarding elements
• Clear understanding of body anatomy, illustration fundamentals,perspective, storytelling and composing
• Proficiency in Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint
• Ability to analyse webtoons and integrate best practices into the storyboarding process
• Fluent communication skills to meaningfully interact with team members

• Prior vertical format webtoon storyboarding experience
• Interest in webtoons and manga
• Interest in the comic creation process
