Job Description

Fool's Theory seeks a skilled VFX Artist (Regular/Senior) to contribute to a project developed in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED. Responsibilities include creating VFX assets (textures, materials, meshes), developing and refining FX prototypes to AAA quality, coordinating implementation with feature teams, creating particle effects in Unreal Engine 5, searching for innovative solutions using Unreal technology, optimizing effects for performance, and documenting workflows. The role requires 5+ years of experience in the games industry, proficiency in Unreal Engine (UE5 preferred), 3D packages (3ds Max/Maya/Blender), fluid simulation software, and strong communication skills. We are Fool’s Theory, a company from Bielsko-Biała in Poland, creators of the game Seven: The Days Long Gone and The Thaumaturge.
We are actively seeking skilled individuals to join our team to work on a project developed in cooperation with CD PROJEKT RED.

Responsibilities

  • Producing assets needed to create visual effects (textures, materials, meshes).
  • Fleshing out fx prototypes and bringing them into the expected AAA quality bars.
  • Coordinating the requirements when briefs are received.
  • Coordinating the implementation of fx to feature teams.
  • Creation and integration of particle effects for characters, environments in gameplay and in cutscenes in Unreal Engine 5 inclusive of full-featured prototypes to shippable quality assets.
  • Searching for new solutions on how to get the most out of the Unreal technology.
  • Enhancing and helping refine the VFX pipelines.
  • Maintaining high-quality and optimal standards of FX in collaboration with lighting, material and tech art team members.
  • Optimizing visual effects for performance.
  • Documenting workflow and communicating relevant information to other teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the games industry as a VFX Artist.
  • Experience with creating a wide variety of realistic game-ready visual effects.
  • Deep knowledge of the Unreal Engine, Unreal Engine 5 familiarity is a plus.
  • Very good knowledge of 3D packages (3ds Max/Maya/Blender) and fluid simulation software/plugins including Niagara, Houdini and Photoshop.
  • Good understanding of performance limitations.
  • Outstanding creativity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to create high quality visual effects consistent with the artistic vision and quality of the project.
  • Ability to independently plan your own work, search for references and present ideas to stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Fluent in English.
