Job Description

This UX Engineer II role at Microsoft's Cloud + AI division involves designing and building functional, accessible user experiences across multiple platforms. The work includes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, leveraging expertise in web front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/Typescript, Python, React/Web Components), design systems, and Figma. Responsibilities encompass the full product lifecycle (ideation to validation), problem-solving for intuitive experiences, and investigating new technologies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, cross-functional collaboration, and a portfolio showcasing their work.
Must have:
  • 2+ years experience in product/service design or shipping production code
  • Web front-end tech experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/Typescript, Python, React/Web Components)
  • Experience with design systems and shared codebases
  • Proficiency in Figma, user research, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Full product lifecycle experience (ideation to validation)

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction or related field AND 2+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code
    • OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with generative AI and large language models (LLMs) and seamlessly integrating them into the UX of existing product experiences
  • 1+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process
  • 2+ years of experience with Web front-end technologies with 1+ years technical engineering experience and familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/Typescript, Python and comfortable with React and/or Web Components 
  • Experience with design systems and comfort working with shared codebases  
  • Experience with Figma and Figma component libraries and/or plugins, animation and/or motion libraries, and an understanding of user research and research methodologies
  • Experience working across disciplines (design, research, engineering, and PM) and the full life cycle of a product (ideation, design, develop, implementation and validation)
  • Online portfolio that showcases your work (e.g. GitHub, Codepen) 

 

UX Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multidisciplinary and cross-product teams to design and build beautiful functional code for end-to-end, accessible user experiences across multiple experiences  
  • Worked as part of an in-house design team, preferably at an enterprise organization 
  • Proven ability in solving complex problems with simple or intuitive experiences 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present your work 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross functionally with other teams 
  • Good understanding of, and ability in Figma and Adobe design tools 
  • Investigate new technologies and keep abreast of modern techniques for building and prototyping applications  
  • Stay current on design trends, technologies, and tools, and incorporate them into the design team's work as appropriate
