Summary

This Technical Writer role focuses on creating and maintaining developer-facing documentation for cloud networking technologies at Google. Responsibilities include researching and writing documentation, potentially including UI text, code samples, and videos. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical writing skills, experience with cloud networking technologies (DNS, BGP, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers), and familiarity with public cloud platforms. The role requires explaining complex topics clearly and concisely for a developer audience. The Technical Infrastructure team ensures Google's online services remain available and performant.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Technical documentation experience
  • Cloud API, networking protocol, or architecture experience
  • Developer-facing documentation creation
  • Explain complex topics clearly
Good to have:
  • 10 years of technical writing experience
  • Experience with DNS, BGP, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers
  • Public cloud technologies (Compute, ML/AI, Data systems) experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with technical documentation, developer facing, Cloud Application programming interfaces (APIs), networking protocols, or network architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience as a technical writer.
  • Experience with computer networking technologies, such as Domain Name System (DNS), routers, the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing protocol, firewalls and firewall rules including iptables, Virtual Private Networks and cloud-based services, and load balancers and proxies.
  • Experience with public Cloud technologies such as Cloud Networking technologies, Compute technologies, ML/AI technologies, or data systems (e.g., Data Warehousing, Analytics, SQL).
