Summary

This Staff Software Engineer role focuses on building AI-assisted troubleshooting solutions (Gemini Cloud Assist) for GCP customers and internal support teams. Responsibilities include working with Support and Support Platform leadership, Product, and Engineering teams to improve troubleshooting quality. The role requires analyzing support and playbook data to identify key business problems, translating them into actionable questions, processing data, and communicating results to stakeholders. Cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Product, Design, Operations, and User Research is crucial to identify opportunities for impactful analysis. The engineer will lead initiatives to improve data, tools, and methodologies, scaling the team's work beyond single product applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, data structures/algorithms, testing, launching software products, software design and architecture, and building software for data privacy or security.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 5 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work as an AI SWE, individual contributor, and leader on the Gemini Cloud Assist Troubleshooting team.
  • Work with Support and Support Platform leadership, Product, and Engineering teams to enable insights and data-driven decision making for driving Gemini Cloud Assist Troubleshooting quality for cloud customers.
  • Work with Support and playbook data to perform analysis, identify the most important business problems, translate these to tractable questions, process data, and perform analysis, and then communicate the results to stakeholders to inform the product direction.
  • Interact cross-functionally and cultivate partnerships with a wide variety of teams, work with Engineering, Product, Design, Operations, and User Research to identify opportunities for impactful analysis.
  • Lead initiatives to improve data, tools, and methodology, beyond the scope of a single product application, to help scale the team's work.
