Key groups across these functions include: Compliance, Fraud Prevention, Global Financial Crimes and Customer Protection, Global Legal Affairs, Government and Regulatory Relations, and more. This role manages senior professionals and requires the ability to prioritize high-impact communications work in an ever-evolving landscape. Excellent communication and relationship-management skills are required to influence and effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences, including employees, customers, regulators, policymakers, and investors.

We are looking for someone who has extensive prior experience leading executive communications, and preferably working directly with executive leadership. Great candidates will be skilled in writing, presentation development, thought leadership, crisis communications, and media prep. We’re looking for someone who can capture an executive’s voice, while proactively finding creative ways to boost internal communications and external thought leadership.

This role will report to PayPal’s VP of Corporate Communications.
 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of communications professionals with the goal of protecting and elevating the PayPal business and brand with all stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel to capture voice, tone, and key messaging autonomously over time.
  • Work closely with the Global Risk Management and Legal leadership teams to drive internal and external communications strategies that are aligned with business objectives and audiences.
  • Work with Government and Regulatory Relations teams to manage PayPal’s global advocacy agenda and strategies for external stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior executives on internal and external communications strategies and reputation matters.
  • Manage and execute a robust internal communications calendar for both functions based on the business's rhythm while identifying opportunities to build on existing platforms such as quarterly Town Hall meetings and the What’s Important Now newsletter.
  • Manage and execute a robust external communications program based on the function’s goals and priorities. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Proactive media relations
    • Social media content
    • Thought leadership content and bylines
    • External speaking engagements
  • Lead internal and external comms plans for leadership hires/departures, change management, and global reorganizations.
  • Lead global center of expertise for crisis and issues management within Corporate Affairs, including providing risk counsel to Corporate Affairs colleagues around the world, and engaging with reporters as needed.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant experience, 5+ years of managerial experience
  • In-depth familiarity with both media relations and internal communications
  • Experience pitching financial, business, technology, and industry publications
  • Ability to synthesize complex concepts to create key messages that are consistent but tailored to various stakeholders
  • Strong and prolific writing and editing skills
  • Skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing simultaneous projects and activities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced corporate environment with sensitive information
  • Takes initiative, anticipates next steps, and sets high standards in all he/she does
  • Strong relationship management skills and experience working with stakeholders cross-functionally and globally
  • Creative, thoughtful approach to work product and regularly brings forward new ideas
  • Experience managing third-party agency relationships
  • Persuasive when presenting to larger groups or in regular meetings, both internally and externally
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Integrity, maturity, dependability, and a positive professional attitude

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is

$143400 to $285450
