Job Description

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III to contribute to the development and maintenance of next-generation infrastructure storage and cloud technologies. Responsibilities encompass writing and reviewing code, participating in design reviews, contributing to documentation, and troubleshooting system issues. The role demands expertise in large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, and software development. The ideal candidate possesses strong problem-solving skills and experience with data structures and algorithms, along with a deep understanding of cloud technologies and storage systems. The engineer will work on projects critical to Google's needs, offering opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years experience with large-scale infrastructure
2+ years software development experience
2+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
Code writing and review
Debugging and troubleshooting

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in Computer Science
Experience with distributed storage or system security
Experience developing accessible technologies
C++ experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
Experience with infrastructure systems, distributed storage, or system security.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Experience with C++.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
