PayPal Core Payment team is looking for talented, creative, and passionate engineers to help design and build instrument payment processing platform.
Engineers should be able to develop quality code to build software based on the requirement. He/ She should have resiliency to provide analysis and solution for any kind of issue happened in production environment. Also he / she should be able to maintain and improve components in the his domain.

The Core Payments team at PayPal is at the heart of these services, responsible for building and maintaining the core infrastructure that powers secure and seamless payment transactions. Switch components are sitting at the edge of the payment system in Paypal and responsible to communicate with partners for any successful transaction. You will be part of the switch platform team. You will manage and improve availability, latency, maintainability of a pool of switch connectors. You will be engaged in adding new functionality and supporting existing functionalities for switch connectors. You will be responsible to maintain healthy connections with partners via certificate renewal and taking other security measures.

As a Software Engineer 3 on the PayPal Core Payments team, candidate will play a crucial role in developing, enhancing, and maintaining the core payment systems that enable secure and reliable financial transactions for millions of users worldwide. Candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute to the growth and success of PayPal's core payments platform.

Your day to day:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance payment solutions.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in languages such as Java or other relevant technologies.

  • Integrate new payment methods, gateways, and technologies into the existing payment infrastructure.

  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to payments, ensuring system reliability and stability.

  • Identify bottlenecks and implement performance improvements to enhance the speed and efficiency of payment processing.

  • Implement and adhere to security best practices to ensure the safety of payment transactions and customer data.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, ensuring that code, configurations, and processes are well-documented.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA engineers, and other software engineers to deliver high-quality solution.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to propose and implement innovative solutions that improve the payment ecosystem.

What you need to bring:

Good in Java: language features, Object Oriented and modular programming, Design Patterns, profiling/tuning, garbage collection.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.

  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms.

  • Experience in object-oriented programming and concepts

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge in Distributed System development using Java/J2EE.

  • Good understanding of web services and related standards like REST/JSON

  • Experience developing data-driven applications using an industry standard RDBMS like Oracle.

  • Hit the ground running on Day 1; take ownership of your
    work and can work independently.

  • Comfortable using application server frameworks, for example Tomcat.

  • Should be able to write Unit tests and Functional Tests.
