Position Overview
Tencent Overseas IT is dedicated to supporting Tencent's fast global expansion by providing future-ready IT platforms, applications, and services. Our mission is to drive the strategy, architecture, roadmap, and execution of Overseas IT. We aim to deliver exceptional experiences to both internal and external customers while striving to become a world-class global IT team.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer with a strong passion for leveraging technology to solve complex challenges within IT Foundation Services. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from Foundation Support and Infrastructure Build-out to Day 1 Onboarding and continuous engagement. IT serves as a key driver in delivering essential services to both internal and external stakeholders. This position will report to IT Manager, Americas IT.

This role is pivotal in collaborating with our overseas internal and external studios, as well as HR, Finance, and various business teams, to design, plan, build, and optimize streamlined, cohesive IT frameworks. These blueprints will encompass the required solutions, platforms, applications, and processes. This essential work will support Tencent’s rapid employee and business expansion in overseas markets, including the Americas, Europe, and APAC.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure Design & Implementation:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable IT infrastructure.
  • Deploy and manage server environments (physical, virtual, cloud-based).
  • Evaluate, configure, and install hardware components (e.g., routers, firewalls, storage devices).

2. Network Management:

  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize network performance (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewall, routers, switches).
  • Ensure network security protocols are implemented, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
  • Troubleshoot network issues and provide solutions promptly.

3. Server & Cloud Management:

  • Manage and maintain servers (Windows, Linux) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Perform patch management, updates, and upgrades to systems and applications.
  • Automate tasks through scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and orchestration tools.

4. Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery:

  • Develop and maintain backup strategies, including regular testing of recovery processes.
  • Implement disaster recovery plans (DRP) and business continuity solutions.

5. Monitoring & Performance Management:

  • Set up system and network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix) to ensure uptime and performance.
  • Conduct regular performance analysis and capacity planning.
  • Generate reports on system performance, availability, and utilization.

6. Security & Compliance:

  • Implement IT security measures in accordance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and security audits.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).

7. IT Operations & Support:

  • Provide Level 2/3 & On-site support to resolve user issues and escalate complex problems.
  • Document systems, procedures, and best practices for operation and troubleshooting.

8. Collaboration & Vendor Management:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to align IT infrastructure with business goals.
  • Collaborate with vendors for procurement and support of IT hardware/software.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers and cloud vendors.

  • On-call availability may be required for system maintenance and incident resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations.
  • Expertise in virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM, as well as containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a comprehensive understanding of IT best practices.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) are advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile/Scrum project management, resource management, and change management.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, addressing diverse and dynamic challenges.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese is a plus, with the ability to effectively communicate in both languages with internal and external stakeholders.
