Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced SDET/QA Manager to lead our Home/SF team. As an SDET Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing test strategies, driving the automation of testing processes, and ensuring the overall quality and performance of software applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and enforce best practices in test automation, CI/CD integration, and quality assurance across all stages of the SDLC.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
Manage, mentor, and lead a team of SDETs, QA engineers.
Provide technical guidance and support to ensure that best practices in test automation and quality engineering are followed.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and automation within the testing team.
Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career development for team members.
Test Strategy & Automation Frameworks:
Define and implement the overall test strategy, including manual and automated testing approaches, for functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, reusable test automation frameworks and tools.
Collaborate with development and product teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage across features and platforms.
Ensure test automation is integrated into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and fast feedback loops.
Quality Assurance and Process Improvement:
Establish and track key quality metrics such as defect rates, test coverage, and test effectiveness to measure and improve the overall quality of the product.
Develop, document, and enforce testing best practices and ensure they are followed throughout the team and organization.
Drive continuous improvement in test methodologies, processes, and tools.
Work with development teams to integrate testing into the early stages of development.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers and other stakeholders to define clear testing requirements, test plans, and schedules.
Ensure alignment between the QA team and other engineering functions, ensuring that testing is part of an agile development workflow.
Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies to provide input from a quality assurance perspective.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution:
Identify high-risk areas in the product and implement testing strategies to mitigate those risks.
Ensure the team is able to quickly identify, analyze, and resolve test-related issues.
Innovation and Tool Evaluation:
Stay up to date with industry trends, new testing tools, and technologies, and drive the adoption of innovative testing solutions.
Evaluate and implement new test automation tools, frameworks, and processes that align with the company’s objectives.
Requirements:
Experience & Skills:
Proven experience (typically 8+ years) as an SDET Lead, QA engineer, or similar role in software development and test automation.
Leadership experience (4+ years) in managing or leading QA or SDET teams.
Extensive experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium) and tools (e.g., JUnit, TestNG).
Expertise in Java programming languages for building framework and automation scripts.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins ) and integrating automated tests into these workflows.
Hands-on experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter) and security testing practices.
Solid understanding of agile methodologies and experience working in agile development environments.
Technical Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of test design techniques and testing methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing.
Expertise in setting up automated testing frameworks for web, mobile, and API testing.
Proficiency in working with version control systems (e.g., Bitnucket) and test management tools (e.g., JIRA).
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and people management skills, with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and building high-performance teams.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, capable of diagnosing complex technical issues and driving solutions.
