Job Description

This Legal Trainee role at Google in Brussels offers a 12-month fixed-term contract. You'll assist with diverse legal challenges related to Google and YouTube services, including intellectual property, consumer regulations, media regulations, advertising law, and data protection. Responsibilities involve conducting legal research, responding to user and third-party requests, assisting with court actions, maintaining internal knowledge databases, and reviewing/drafting agreements. The ideal candidate will possess a Belgian law degree with an LLM specialization and fluency in English, Dutch, and French. Experience in a law firm or company legal department is required. This position provides invaluable experience in a fast-paced environment, developing skills in legal analysis, research, and communication.

Must have:

Belgian Law Degree with LLM
Fluency in English, Dutch, French
Legal Research & Analysis Skills
Experience in Law Firm/Legal Dept.
Assist with Court Actions
Review & Draft Agreements

Good to have:

IP, Tech, or Media Law Experience
Experience with Legal Databases
Project Management Skills

Minimum qualifications:

Law degree from a Belgian University, with a specialisation (LLM) in law and new technologies, commercial law, copyright law or privacy law.
Experience working in a law firm or legal department of a company.
Ability to communicate in English, Dutch and French fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with legal analysis and research.
Experience in intellectual property, technology, or media law, with an interest in technology and IT-relevant legal problems and recent developments.
Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Available to start between February to March 2025 for 12 months fixed-term contract.

Responsibilities

Conduct legal research on a variety of legal topics (e.g., intellectual property, consumer regulations, media regulations, advertising law, data protection, etc.).
Respond to various legal requests from users and third-parties in relation to Google services.
Assist the Legal team in the preparation and the management of court actions.
Participate in the creation and maintenance of internal knowledge databases for the Legal team.
Participate in the review and drafting of agreements.
