Lead Staff Writer - English Audio Description

Descriptive Video Works is seeking a full time Lead Staff Writer to join our experienced writing team.

Communicate clearly with Project Manager (PM) about projects and scheduling.

Create high-quality audio description scripts through authoring platforms and export files, following appropriate style guides and client guidelines. 

Proofread/QC final project for accuracy/typos etc. 

Submit files with required information related to project (eg tone, line count, subtitles, content warnings), on or before due date. 

Make any adjustments deemed necessary by external QC. 

Ensure that your computer and programs are up to date, and adhere to strict security regulations. 

Trial new software with tech leads as needed. 

Mentor and QC new freelance writers, maintaining open communication through meetings and over email.

Maintain a consistent level of communication with the team through weekly meetings. 

Periodically review new writer submissions, and scripts created by fellow DVW writers. 

Update training material as needed. 

Seek out research, continuing education, and workshop opportunities to share with the team and company.

Attend periodic company meetings and contribute to quarterly advisory council meetings. 

Participate in yearly performance reviews and goal setting. 

Opportunities to participate in panel discussions and presentations.
