Overview

 

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Head of Communications, a highly visible and cross-functional role in the LegalZoom Marketing organization, to build a world-class team and develop a communications strategy that establishes LegalZoom as a champion of, and authority on small businesses, elevating the stories of the millions of entrepreneurs who use LegalZoom

 

 

You will

        Lead LegalZoom’s communications team, scaling the company’s corporate, product, and internal communications functions

        Work closely with LegalZoom’s CEO and senior executives across Marketing, Product, People, and other teams to set our communications objectives, define and shape the company’s core narratives, and tell stories that advance top-level company goals

        Work with media to drive mainstream awareness of important business and product milestones, our mission and brand, small business success stories, and other work that advances our reputation among key audiences in business, technology, etc.

        Develop internal communications plans and strategies that build trust and alignment on company culture, values, vision, and LegalZoom’s business goals

        Manage our quarterly earnings process in partnership with our investor relations and finance teams

        Build the overall external platform strategy that utilizes our data and our leadership team, elevating LegalZoom as a key, authoritative voice on topics related to entrepreneurship and small businesses

        Partner with Marketing on creation and promotion of initiatives that bring to life our brand promise and advance our platform

        Other duties as assigned

        Occasional travel may be required as needed

 

You have

        15+ years of experience, predominantly in leading in-house communications teams

        Expertise in (1) earned media and program strategy, as well as the expanding nature of communications work – from thought leadership to social media, paid placements, and other brand visibility programs; (2) supporting C-suite executives’ internal communications needs at a scaled company

        A track record of building consensus across teams and generating the support of leadership on critical company initiatives and cross-functional projects

        Proven experience working with media, with longstanding, productive relationships with national business, technology, consumer, local, and vertical press

        Curiosity and a command of data and how it can be used to uncover insights that advance company narratives

        Excellent writing and editing skills and an ability to communicate creatively and succinctly

        Passion for entrepreneurship and helping small businesses

        Remote employees should confirm that the internet service available has adequate bandwidth to support all work processes.

 

LegalZoom is a remote-first company and the national range for this role is $175,500 - $227,500. Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs. In addition, an annual bonus, incentive bonus and/or restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package. You will also receive a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits as seen below.
