Role Overview:
As a Design Project Manager, you will oversee and drive the successful execution of design projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with client goals. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including UX Designers, Researchers, and Content Strategists, while managing client relationships and delivering innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution: Plan, define, and manage project scopes, milestones, and timelines. Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure deadlines are met.
Team Leadership: Lead project kickoff meetings, set clear objectives, and coordinate tasks among design, research, and UX teams, ensuring alignment with client and practice partners.
Collaboration & Communication: Act as the primary liaison between cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and client teams, ensuring smooth coordination and interdependency management.
Budget & Resource Management: Track project budgets, monitor expenses, and manage resource allocation effectively.
Operational Excellence: Provide leadership across client design teams, ensuring trust-building, strategic counsel, and smooth project delivery.
Process Improvement: Identify process, tool, and documentation needs and implement changes to improve team efficiency and project outcomes.
Client & Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong client relationships, manage expectations, and foster a collaborative working environment. Ensure consistent communication and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Documentation: Ensure all project-related documentation, including specifications, wireframes, and design assets, are up-to-date and accurate.
Retrospectives & Improvements: Conduct project retrospectives and drive process improvements for future engagements.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Interactive Design, Project Management, Communications)
Experience: 3-4 years of experience as a PM (or a Designer or Content Specialist who has 2+ years of experience as a PM) in a digital design or web marketing/advertising industry or similar role.
Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively across teams and present to stakeholders.
Project Management Expertise: Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent organizational and time-management skills. Proficiency in project management tools such as Asana, Monday.com, Trello or similar platforms.
UX & Design Knowledge: Strong understanding of UX/UI principles, design best practices, and web development processes.
Video production: Strong understanding of the video production process, from concept to final cut, including pre-production, production and post-production workflow.
Familiarity with video editing software and creative tolls is a plus (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc).
Cross-Team Collaboration: Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including UX, engineering, and content strategy to ensure successful project delivery.
Technical Skills: Ability to work with various project management tools and systems (e.g., Excel, proprietary applications).
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify challenges and develop effective solutions.
