Job Description

As a Data Engineer at Microsoft's Cloud Operations + Innovation team, you'll partner with various teams to define business requirements, build a long-term data vision, and design/implement impactful data solutions. Responsibilities include creating scalable, automated solutions, building data models and pipelines meeting service level agreements, collaborating with product and engineering teams, prioritizing solutions, adhering to rigorous engineering processes, ensuring system compliance with Microsoft security and privacy guidelines, and understanding Big Data strategies to implement scalable data platforms. The role involves turning data chaos into efficient solutions and building foundational, trusted datasets aligned with business strategy.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in related field and 2+ years experience
2+ years experience building scalable applications (Python, SQL)
Design and implement data solutions
Build data models and pipelines
Collaborate with various teams

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work

OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in business analytics, data science, software development, or data engineering work
OR equivalent experience.

2+ years of experience building highly scalable applications, specifically with coding languages such as Python and SQL (Structured Query Language).

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of software engineering experience including building a large-scale data platform.
3+ years of experience building highly scalable applications.
Experience creating high-quality data pipelines.
Proven experience in version control and CI/CD (Continuous integration and continuous delivery) tools.
Extensive experience in pioneering, scaling, and optimizing data pipelines, data storage, large-scale data processing/analytics platform, dashboards

Data Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, you will partner with various teams to develop business requirements to standardize the business input and develop a long-term vision. CO+I continue to invest heavily in business intelligence and data science, and you have the opportunity to lay the foundation for the work we do in these areas.

Designing and implementing data solutions that drive business impact. Turning data chaos into scalable, efficient, and automated solutions.

Design, implement and build data models and pipelines that deliver data with measurable quality under the service level agreement.

Partner with product teams, data analysts and engineering teams to build foundational data sets that are trusted, well understood, and aligned with business strategy. Work with the team and stakeholders to scope and prioritize solutions.
