Build Engineer

Fully Remote US/CAN

Spliced Inc.

AAA

“Let’s redefine what a game is and how we interact with them.  We want to make games that everyone wants to play and invite the whole world into ours.

Together we’ll discover connection and innovation you’ve never experienced before and an amazing world you’ll never leave behind”.

We are Spliced Inc. and we’re looking for a Build Engineer.

The Role

You will play a critical role by designing, implementing, and operating build and automation infrastructure systems for a large, distributed development team. You will get to work with modern cloud hosting and industry-standard build pipeline technologies to develop a fresh, world-class build platform for a rapidly growing studio.  Your work will enable us to provide a seamless and satisfying online experience to a massive global audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with departments across the studio to understand automation needs, identify priorities, and advocate for the best solutions
  • Design and implement robust, performant, maintainable systems to address the team’s build/automation needs
  • Monitor the health of live build infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and develop technical fixes for discovered issues to reduce manual toil over time
  • Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with other members of the development team using Slack, code reviews, design reviews, bugs, and video calls
  • Grow as an engineer by developing domain expertise, owning significant projects end-to-end, and supporting/mentoring colleagues and peers

About You:

  • Passionate about creating high quality build processes and games
  • Computer science or Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
  • 3+ years of professional build/automation experience using a framework like Jenkins or Team City
  • Expert proficiency in at least one major programming language
  • Experience with runtime automation test scripting
  • Experience with deployment/dev-ops for distributed software, especially games (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc)
  • Familiarity with standard features of at least one of the major cloud hosting providers
  • Strong interpersonal skills: the abilities to communicate positively and effectively, and to take constructive feedback on work well. Self-motivated, can-do attitude, quick learner and problem solver

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional or project experience working on a game or with a game team
  • Professional or project experience working with Unreal Engine 4+, especially Horde
  • Experience with developing and deploying software for multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, mobile, game consoles)
  • Experience building or scripting automation testing for games specifically
  • Experience working on large scale teams of 100 or more
