As a Backend/Fullstack Engineer in Embark's Security team, you'll build data infrastructure, backend components, and anti-cheat tools. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring fair gameplay by implementing preventive and detective anti-cheat measures. Collaborate with game teams and the studio to educate on anti-cheat strategies. The role involves working across various services, UIs, and technologies, demanding independent problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include building and improving anti-cheat services, features, and tools; enhancing engineering practices and automating workflows; ensuring easy deployment, scalability, and maintainability of services; and contributing valuable code. Technologies used include Go, Python, SQL, C++, GCP, Bazel, Terraform, Kubernetes, BigQuery, and Google Spanner.
Must have:
  • Experience with Go, Python, SQL, GCP
  • Backend and frontend development skills

Good to have:

As a Backend Engineer in the Security team at Embark, you will be an integral part of a highly creative game team focused on building data infrastructure, backend components, and tools to power our anti-cheat efforts.

You will play an important role in securing the success of Embark by enabling the effective execution of our various preventive and detective anti-cheat operations. You’ll be part of a small and passionate team with an end-to-end mission; to ensure a fair and fun experience for our players. You’ll collaborate with the rest of the game teams and studio to understand and educate about the anti-cheat perspective.

The anti-cheat tools and infrastructure span over several services, UIs and technologies, and as such you will be expected to work independently across different domains and disciplines to solve the problems at hand, learning as you go. This is likely something you enjoy.

Some examples of things we’re working on are analytic tools, detection rules, and telemetry infrastructure, authentication. Some of the technologies we use to make all of those are Go, Python, SQL, C++, GCP, Bazel, Terraform, Kubernetes, BigQuery, Google Spanner.

Example of responsibilities 

  • Collaborate and work closely with fellow software engineers and game developers
  • Build and improve services, features and tools for anti-cheat operations
  • Continuously improve our engineering practices and automate existing workflows to make sure our services are easy to deploy, scale and maintain
  • Make sure your code adds a great amount of value to your colleagues

We would love if you have

  • A creative and curious mind
  • Solid experience with the technologies we use such as Go, Python, SQL and the GCP stack
  • Experience building frontends and backends, mainly internal data-driven tools
  • Experience deploying and maintaining services on a cloud infrastructure
  • An analytical mindset, self-drive and a can-do attitude to drive projects from idea to product
  • Background in the gaming industry or other consumer-facing products
  • A passion for games, interactive experiences and new technologies
  • Professional English communication skills.
