This Attorney position at Disney in London supports Studio Marketing, Disney+ Marketing, Brand & Franchise Management, and Corporate Communications. Job Summary:

Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Principal Counsel for Studio Marketing, Disney+ Marketing, Brand & Franchise Management, and Corporate Communications, this role involves working under their direction and aligning with all relevant business areas within their scope, while providing legal support and advice on a broad range of marketing and commercial activities.

This is an office-based role. 4 days working in the Hammersmith, London office with 1 day working from home (Monday or Friday).

The Opportunity & Responsibilities:

General 

  • Draft and conclude commercial contracts, promotional licence agreements, amendments and other legal documentation required by the Studio Marketing/Disney+ Marketing/Brand & Franchise management/Corporate Communications businesses in EMEA 
  • Provide studio and music clearances support and liaise with Burbank in relation to such clearances 
  • Liaise with the business teams in London and the overseas offices where necessary in relation to agreements 
  • Advising on all marketing activities undertaken by Studio Marketing /Disney+ Marketing/Brand & Franchise management/Corporate Communications 
  • Supporting on ad hoc projects and taking the lead where requested 
  • Strengthen internal relationships in ways that benefit the business 

Deal Administration 

Keep know-how sites up to date with general marketing legal advice  

  • Contract management lifecycle from inception to execution  
  • Organization of documentation and systems  

Other General Activities 

  • Work effectively with departmental colleagues on a cross-functional and cross-territory basis 
  • Adhere to defined best practice processes, taking opportunities to improve them where available 
  • Keep up to date with relevant legal developments (including ASA adjudications) and, where appropriate, take opportunities to share that knowledge with colleagues 
  • Foster a ‘continuous improvement’ culture, ensuring that policies and processes will protect the business 
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve existing processes and procedures, including standardization of documents and legal resources.  

The Experience We Require From You:

  • Law degree qualified (UK qualification)
  • 1-3 years PQE
  • Contract and Commercial Law 
  • Contract drafting  
  • Marketing Law experience  

Skills Required 

  • Understanding of negotiation and good contract drafting skills 
  • Ability to draft from scratch to address new and challenging issues 
  • Self-starter and self-supporting 
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage a wide range of diverse matters and business clients 
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines 
  • Methodical, meticulous and with great attention to detail 
  • Accurate completion of agreements within agreed timelines 
  • Ability to communicate legal matters to non-legal audience (e.g. marketing team) 
  • Interact well with people who have different backgrounds and work styles 
  • Listen and asks questions to ensure understanding 
  • Convey relevant information in a candid and timely manner
