Mythical Games seeks an Art Director for its FIFA Rivals team. Responsibilities include leading art direction for marketing materials, in-game assets, and events; overseeing brand consistency; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders; managing production; conducting A/B testing; and identifying innovative solutions. The ideal candidate possesses 7+ years of experience, including 2+ years leading creative teams, and a strong portfolio showcasing artistic skills across various disciplines. They will work closely with the Creative Director and Game Art Director, ensuring visual assets meet brand standards and generate excitement for the game.

We are currently looking for an Art Director to join our FIFA Rivals game team. The Art Director is responsible for the art direction, implementation and maintenance of the FIFA Rivals brand, in alignment with the overall vision and direction set forth by the Creative Director. The main part of your duties will be working directly with the Creative Director, game art director, as well as internal and external stakeholders (such as outsourced agencies) to maintain and uphold the look and feel of our game IP, while producing top-quality visual assets. You will be working on key art pieces, logos, trailers, typography, and whatever else might pop up. Your goal is to delight gamers and create hype for our games, while upholding the visual identity for FIFA Rivals.


Responsibilities

• Create top-notch visual concepts that resonate with the target audience, for use across marketing channels, in-game live service drops, events, and much more.
• Lead the art direction and be the ‘gatekeeper’ for all of our marketing materials
• Drive and oversee the development of the brand and visual identity of the studio and our games, working closely with the brand-central creative team and outsource partners
• Manage the full cycle marketing art production process for the game
• Research and document competitive trends in gaming, marketing
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to coordinate the production and delivery of marketing materials for the game
• Oversee and Execute Creative A/B Testing
• Identify and recommend new tools and technologies to improve content production
• Proactively track trends in design, user experience, and social media
• Own deliverables and initiatives with acute attention to craft and detail
• Constantly strive for better, more innovative solutions across creative channels
• Hands-on creative development from concept to completion, when needed
• Skillful at delivering constructive and detailed paint over direction and feedback

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience, including 2+ years leading creative teams
• Art direction leadership experience across related industries
• Experience with industry standard tools and file formatting (Adobe Creative Suite)
• Ability to define an attractive vision for the studio, brand, and games, with visual and technical understanding and asset creation. Must have an eye for graphical quality and knowledge of techniques to achieve visual targets.
• Eager ability to be involved as an Individual Contributor; being a part of executing the vision alongside delivering it
• A portfolio that exhibits personal and project artistic accomplishments.
• Understanding of all art disciplines including concept, character, animation, environment, VFX, UI, lighting, shading, and rendering.
• Strong communication/listening, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• A desire to innovate and to go above and beyond in pursuit of excellence.

Pluses

• Background in Design/Agency/Advertising, Game Development or Sports
• A passion for games and/or the sports world
• Working knowledge or proficiency with 3D software such as C4D, Maya, Blender, etc.
• Proficiency with Motion Graphics

The expected base salary range for this role is based on the location where the employee’s work will be performed and is aligned to one of our three compensation pay range tiers. Base pay is just one part of Mythical’s total compensation package, which is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their efforts and contributions. This role is also eligible to participate in Mythical’s Corporate Bonus and Equity Plan.

Pay Ranges by Tier: 

Tier 1: $146,000 - $201,000

Tier 2: $132,000 - $182,000

Tier 3: $117,000 - $161,000

Locations by Tier:

Tier 1 Locations: San Francisco Bay Area - California

Tier 2 Locations: Remainder of California (outside of the SF Bay Area), Washington state, Massachusetts state, New York state

Tier 3 Locations: All other states outside of California, Washington, Massachusetts, and New York

*The role is open to candidates in the following states on a remote basis: California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Texas & Washington

The base salary for each successful applicant will be dependent on a variety of factors, including work location, education, qualifications, competencies, relevant work experience, business needs, and market demands.
