Our mission is to deliver world-class news search and recommendation results for Bing, MSN, and other Microsoft products. Empowered with AI, we aim to make searching and reading news simpler and smarter across all media and devices within the Microsoft network and beyond.

• 2+ years of software development experience
• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or a related field
• In-depth knowledge of data mining, machine learning, information retrieval, or natural language processing.
• Strong programming and algorithm design skills.
• Passion for software quality, performance, and engineering excellence.
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills.

As an Applied Scientist on the News & Feeds team, you will directly impact the quality of news search results on Bing, MSN, and beyond, enhancing the experience of hundreds of millions of users across different countries every day.

• You will leverage data mining and machine learning technologies to tackle interesting news search and recommendation challenges, ensuring news quality in terms of relevance, freshness, and authority.
• You will develop highly scalable platforms to process rapidly streaming news documents and serve user queries in real-time.
• You will work closely with Program Managers and designers to define novel product features, innovating the news reading experience by integrating it with AI.
