Job Summary:

About the Role & Team

Disney Television Animation is looking for a Storybook Artist to join an unannounced Disney Junior project! The Storybook Artist is responsible for creating line art and full-color illustrated panels that depict key scenes and moments from episodes. These Storybooks can be used for focus testing with audiences during the pre-production process.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with the production team to create full color, engaging storybook illustrations that depict key scenes and moments from episodes, from thumbnail sketches through delivery of finished illustrations
  • Use a strong understanding of staging, composition, color design, and character design to bring scenes to life while adhering to the vision and style of the show
  • Address notes from Executive Producers and Supervising Directors, revise work, and submit completed storybook illustrations in accordance with production schedules
  • Additional duties as necessary, or as defined by individual contracts

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 2+ years of experience and/or training in a similar role
  • Proficiency with digital illustration software and hardware including Cintiq and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator).
  • A strong portfolio that showcases an ability to create engaging, colorful illustrations
  • Ability to draw characters and environments that align with the style and sensibility of show
  • Excellent understanding of art fundamentals including staging, composition, color theory, and character design
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage your time effectively
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with television animation production pipeline a plus
  • Experience in children's media, illustration, or animation is a plus

Education

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.

The pay rate for this role in California is $53.16 to $59.20 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
