About Salesforce

We’re Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI+ Data +CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too — driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good – you’ve come to the right place.

We are looking for an excellent Product Manager to join the cross-functional team that powers our internal & external developers to build phenomenal products that delight our customers. As the Product Manager of the Salesforce API Platform, you will be responsible for designing and building tooling, policies, governance rules, and developer experience products that make building and consuming APIs at Salesforce flawless and powerful.

To be successful in this role, you need excellent communication skills and a developer-centric approach (this is non-negotiable). Your customers are API producers and API consumers in the forms of humans, apps, and agents. You will be responsible for ensuring that Salesforce meets the needs of these customers through a highly technical platform product. You will work across Clouds with cross-functional partners to capture, vet, and prioritize customer requirements as well as different business functions including product experience, site reliability, customer-centric engineering, operations, and release management. This role will require you to not only drive the roadmap for your team but also develop the long term strategy of our API platform offerings.

In addition, you will be expected to be the biggest advocate of your product to customers through customer feedback sessions, Salesforce events,  blogs, and podcasts. You will serve as the loudspeaker of the innovative work and impactful outcomes your engineering teams will deliver.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement the short term (3-6 months) roadmap of an API platform product/service day-to-day with developers, tech writing, and design.

  • Strategize the medium to long term priorities of this team (1-3 years) in order to make our customers/partners successful.

  • Gather feedback from internal/external partners & external customers on how the roadmap can be iterated over time to meet their needs.

  • Market & evangelize features & roadmap across multiple mediums (blogs, podcasts, live streams).

  • Serve as the main point person for feedback, questions, comments regarding your highly technical product to partners, customers, sales people, customer success and others.

  • Lead our API Governance committee to author and iterate rules that enable a consistent and coherent portfolio of APIs.

Requirements:

  • A related technical degree required

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in product management, delivering highly technical products (preferably platform products/services).

  • Motivated by solving sophisticated problems and bringing order & structure to ambiguity.

  • Proven track record to influence and coordinate cross-organization teams to complete important company priorities.

  • Desire to market platform services/products through blogs, events, podcasts and other mediums.

  • Ability to communicate to various customers ranging from tactical technical detail to high level strategy.

  • Experience addressing executive leadership, participating in the sales cycle, and handling sensitive customer issues.

  • Hands-on solid understanding with and passion for API architectures, protocols, and specifications including REST, SOAP, GraphQL, gRPC, OpenAPI, Async API, and Protobuf.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies & microservices, API management platforms (notably MuleSoft Anypoint and Postman), and API clients (namely cURL and command line interfaces) is strongly preferred.

In office (San Francisco or Seattle) expectations are 36 days/a quarter to support customers and/or collaborate with their teams.
