Job Description

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing software features for Speaker products, specifically focusing on showcasing premium experiences (e.g., Media, Voice, Smart Home) to users. You will leverage the Google ecosystem to enhance the user experience of first-party products. Your responsibilities will include participating in the full development cycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams, improving media playback experience via Cast/Bluetooth, leveraging on-device compute for latency and offload purposes, improving far-field experience using Large Language Models (LLM), innovating smart home experiences utilizing Matter and Google Home Platform, and developing new features for Speakers and other Google first-party products.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
2 years of software development experience
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
Experience with device or middleware software development
Collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
Excellent problem-solving skills

Good to have:

Experience with Video/Media Streaming, playback and audio post processing
Knowledge of Android Media Framework

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with device or middleware software development.
Experience with Video/Media Streaming, playback and audio post processing.
Knowledge of Android Media Framework.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Participate in a full development cycle by cross-functional team collaboration with Engineering/Program Managers/User Experience/Engineering Productivity.
Improve Media playback experience via Cast/Bluetooth.
