Job Description

Google Photos seeks Software Engineers to contribute to its photo sharing and storage service. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing product/system code, ensuring best practices, contributing to documentation, debugging and resolving issues, participating in design reviews, and managing project priorities. The ideal candidate has experience in Android application development, data structures, algorithms, and large-scale systems. They will work on a critical project with opportunities for team and project switching. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership qualities, and the ability to handle various aspects of the full-stack development process.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent
2 years experience with data structures/algorithms
2 years software development experience (or 1 year with advanced degree)
Android app development experience
Code review and debugging skills

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in CS
Experience with large-scale systems
Performance analysis & visualization
Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an
academic or industry setting.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
2 years of experience with Android application development.
Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
