Job Description

Google Photos seeks a Software Engineer II, Mobile to contribute to the development and maintenance of its photo sharing and storage service. Responsibilities encompass writing and reviewing code, participating in design reviews, contributing to documentation, debugging, and resolving system issues. The ideal candidate possesses experience in software development (Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript), data structures/algorithms, and ideally iOS development (Swift, Objective-C). The role involves managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality software solutions. The work contributes to Google's larger efforts in building scalable, user-centric experiences.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent
1+ year software development experience
1+ year experience with data structures/algorithms
Code writing & review
Debugging & issue resolution

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in CS
iOS development experience (Swift, Objective-C)
Experience with large-scale systems
Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
1 year of experience with iOS application development.
1 year of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Experience with software development in Swift and Objective C.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
