Job Description

Google is looking for a Software Engineer in Research, Computational Imaging to develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information. This role will involve collaborating with peers and stakeholders, designing and implementing generative AI solutions, and researching and developing machine learning for computer vision, computational photography, graphics, image or video processing, and generative AI. The successful candidate will have experience with software development in one or more programming languages, data structures/algorithms, testing, maintaining, or launching software products, software design and architecture, Python development, Generative AI, and TensorFlow. Experience with ML research and computational imaging are preferred.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with software development
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture
  • Experience with Python development
  • Experience with Generative AI
  • Experience with TensorFlow
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role
  • Experience developing accessible technologies
  • Experience with graphics and imaging
  • Experience with Machine Learning (ML) research
  • Experience with computational imaging

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience with Python development.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices on available technologies (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency,)
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Design and implement generative AI solutions, leverage ML infrastructure, and evaluate tradeoffs between different techniques and their application domains.
  • Research and develop machine learning for computer vision, computational photography, graphics, image or video processing, and generative AI.
