Summary

As a Software Engineer III in Storage Platforms at Google Cloud, you will develop kernel software, embedded firmware, or storage software for HDDs and next-generation storage technologies. Responsibilities include designing and implementing software solutions to enhance storage security, developing software tools and utilities to optimize storage device lifecycle and system performance, and building storage analytics infrastructure for monitoring, troubleshooting, and deriving insights. You'll work with Linux drivers, kernel storage features, and user-space interfaces optimized for flash storage, ensuring high performance, security, and capacity. The role requires expertise in C/C++, data structures, algorithms, and experience with hardware/software stacks or embedded systems. You will contribute to big data analytics infrastructure and leverage Google's testing and release infrastructure.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C or C++, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • Experience with hardware and software stacks or embedded systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience working with embedded firmware or storage software.
  • Experience with solid state and disk based storage technologies, storage protocols (e.g., NVMe, SATA/ATA/SAS).
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with Kernel programming.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments.

As a Software Engineer in Storage Platforms, you will develop Kernel software, embedded firmware, or storage software for Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and next-generation disruptive storage technologies. You will design, develop, and maintain big data analytics infrastructure to help monitor, troubleshoot, and derive insights from storage devices in Google’s infrastructure. You will ensure a high-level of quality in the software by writing tests for the code and leveraging Google's leading edge test and release infrastructure.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
