Job Description

Google Messages allows Android users to communicate through SMS/MMS and the new RCS standard. To protect users from unwanted content, Google is establishing the Messages - Spam and Abuse team in Kraków, Poland. The team's goal is to prevent spam and ensure a safe user experience. As a Software Engineer III, you will write product or system development code, participate in design reviews, review code, contribute to documentation, and debug/resolve issues.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java)
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
2 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management)
2 years of experience with backend software development

Good to have:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields
Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
2 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
2 years of experience with backend software development.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
Experience developing accessible technologies.

For this reason we are establishing in Kraków the Messages - Spam and Abuse team to expand on existing team in US. Our goals are to prevent our users from experiencing spam and prevent spammers from finding value in spamming our users.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
