Job Description

This Senior Data Scientist role at Google focuses on power forecasting and optimization for a global user base. Responsibilities include performing data analysis using SQL, R, and Python, building new processes and procedures, reporting KPIs to leadership, translating analysis into actionable insights, and iteratively building analysis and business cases. The ideal candidate will have experience managing analytical projects, working in a complex organization, and presenting technical information to executives. Must have:

Master's degree in quantitative field
5 years statistical data analysis experience
3 years analytical project management
SQL, R, Python proficiency

Problem-solving & optimal solution finding

Good to have:

5 years scripting and statistical analysis experience
3 years experience in a complex organization
1 year experience presenting to executive leadership

Minimum qualifications:

Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with statistical data analysis, data mining, and querying (e.g., SQL).
3 years of experience managing analytical projects.

Preferred qualifications:

5 years of experience in scripting, statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS), developing and managing metrics, and evaluating programs/products.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
1 year of experience preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Perform analysis utilizing relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Help solve problems, narrow down multiple options into approach, and take ownership of open-ended ambiguous business problems to reach an optimal solution.
Build new processes, procedures, methods, tests, and components with foresight to anticipate and address future issues.
Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support business reviews with the cross-functional/organizational leadership team. Translate analysis results to business insights or product improvement opportunities.
Build and prototype analysis and business cases iteratively to provide insights at scale. Develop comprehensive knowledge of Google data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for product development.
Influence across teams to align resources and direction.
