About the role

As a Senior Animator, your mission is to bring stylized game characters and objects to life through visually compelling and engaging animations. You will collaborate closely with the art and design teams to ensure that every movement in the game is a seamless blend of creativity and technical precision. This role is central to maintaining the quality and consistency of animations across the entire project. You'll also play a crucial part in shaping the future of our animation team by mentoring junior animators, pushing the boundaries of animation techniques, and ensuring that every animation enhances the game's art direction and player experience.

  • Collaborate with the art and design teams to create visually compelling and engaging animations for stylized game characters and objects.
  • Create and manage animation systems for characters and objects within the Unity game engine.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of animations throughout the game
  • Mentor and train junior animators
  • Provide feedback and guidance to other departments as needed
  • Identify and resolve technical and artistic issues related to animations
  • Meet project timelines and production schedules

What you’ll achieve

  • Creation and implementation of high-quality stylized animations that elevate the game's art direction.
  • Provide creative and technical direction to the animation team to ensure consistency and quality across all animations.
  • Development of new animation techniques and tools to improve animation quality, workflow efficiency, and artistic expression.
  • Develop and implement new rigging and skinning techniques to improve the overall quality and efficiency of character production.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior animators on animation, rigging and skinning best practices and techniques.

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Advanced proficiency in 3D animation software and workflows.
  • Expert knowledge of keyframe animation principles and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with other departments.
  • Strong ability to understand and follow technical and aesthetic requirements set by the project leads.
  • Knowledge of rigging and skinning characters and objects for animation.
  • Ability to create and refine character and object animation cycles and loops.
  • Understanding of the Unity game engine animation systems and tools for creating complex animation behaviors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues with animation in the game engine.
  • Knowledge of scripting and programming languages for creating custom animation tools and scripts.
