I. Hiring specifications
Job Purpose: The Research Engineer –perception is a research and development role within THRSL. Research Engineer is expected to develop state-of-the-art mapping algorithms. And will work on the development of leading-edge products including the next-generation products.
Role Expectations
- Take algorithms from conception to implementation and deployment.
- Build robust solutions to cutting edge Autonomous driving problems.
- Train and Develop Deep Learning Algorithms on GPU cluster to perform tasks such as object detection, segmentation
- Develop state of the art algorithms in the areas such as Object detection, tracking, Multi-task learning, distributed training, multi-sensor fusion
- Develop software for real-time processing of sensor data, including cameras, LIDAR, and other sensors
- Optimize the algorithms to run on the edge computing device
- Work across Perception, Motion planning, Behavior planning and Control system components.
- Implement fast reliable production grade code (C, C++, Linux).
- Work with existing code base to optimize performance.

ü Role will report into Technical Lead
Interactions
ü Internal Stakeholders: HODs, Research & Sr Research Engineers in Mobile robots department in R&D function, System & Solution Integration team etc.
ü External Stakeholders: Customers/Clients
II. PEOPLE SPECIFICATIONS
Profile: Ideally ~
- Masters/PhD in Electrical/Electronics/ Computer Science or an equivalent Mathematics field + Machine Learning Background.
- 2-4 years of industry experience.
- Strong understanding of fundamentals: Linear Algebra, Optimization, Supervised and Unsupervised Algorithms, Generative and Discriminative Techniques.
- Experience in Computer Vision, Deep Learning Algorithms and in C/C++ coding.
- Good knowledge of algorithm development.
- Experience with camera sensors, LIDARs, calibration.
- Hands-on experience in robotic and/or autonomous vehicle system design and implementation.
Requisites: Exposure to software development in autonomous mobile robots with manufacturing, defense and automation background.
Competencies
Technical :
- Strong programming experience in writing production-grade safe C++ code.
- Experience with ROS/Autonomous Vehicles/Path Planning.
