The Manager, Sourcing Compliance – Sustainability Training, will lead the development and delivery of sustainability training programs for Disney's suppliers, advancing their 2030 Environmental Goals. Responsibilities include designing engaging training materials, ensuring supplier compliance with environmental standards, collaborating with internal and external teams, and conducting training sessions. The role requires strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills, along with expertise in environmental sustainability and supply chain management. The ideal candidate will have experience in vendor training, sustainability initiatives, and working with global suppliers, particularly those based in China. A deep understanding of environmental regulations, industry best practices, and product sustainability standards is crucial.

The Manager, Sourcing Compliance – Sustainability Training, will play a crucial part in advancing Disney’s 2030 Environmental Goals by leading the development and delivery of sustainability training programs for our suppliers. Leading the charge in designing, implementing, and delivering sustainability training programs for our extensive network of suppliers, you will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure these initiatives seamlessly align with Disney's multifaceted sustainability goals.

Crafting engaging training materials and presentations, you will navigate the intricacies of Disney's organizational structure, product development processes, and vendor relationships to deliver content uniquely tailored to our brand. Encompassing a diverse array of topics, from Scope 3 emissions to reduced textile waste and sustainable packaging, you will continuously stay at the forefront of industry trends, ensuring our training content remains cutting-edge and impactful. Your passion for sustainability, combined with your exceptional communication and collaboration skills, will be pivotal in fostering positive change within our supply chain.

This individual must be a self-starter, highly organized, eager to drive progress towards The Walt Disney Company’s sustainability goals, and have the ability to influence leadership and partners through change.

This role works closely with suppliers based in China and the Sourcing Compliance & Operations team based in the US.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop training programs that educate suppliers on Disney's environmental goals and expectations.
  • Create engaging and informative training materials, presentations, and resources.
  • Ensure suppliers understand and comply with Disney's environmental standards and regulations.
  • Provide guidance on adopting sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align training programs with various sustainability initiatives.
  • Work closely with external environmental organizations to stay updated on industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for suppliers, both in-person and virtually, to ensure understanding and commitment to Disney's environmental goals.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in vendor training, sustainability training, communications or related field.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Communications, Business, or equivalent degree.
  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • Professional working proficiency in one or more regional languages (e.g., Vietnamese, Mandarin, Putonghua, Cantonese, Korean, Bahasa)
  • Ability to travel for conferences, meetings and site visits.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering environmental sustainability training programs.
  • Familiarity with supply chain and vendor management practices.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apparel industry, product development, raw material, supply chain and product sustainability experience required.
  • Strong ability to work independently with minimal direction, strong industry connections, highly self-motivated, extremely strong project management, and executive presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with product sustainability standards and certifications including GOTS, Oeko-Tex, GRS, OCS, FEM, and FSC.
  • Knowledge of production manufacturing and product engineering, global trade regulations, production cycle timeline, calendar management, fabric performance and garment/product construction.
  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit, adept in working in ambiguity and new start-up teams
  • Highly collaborative, with ability to work across disciplines, sell in strategies, and drive to win-win solutions.
  • Proficiency in MS Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to influence and make decisions across geographies in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to inspire, think creatively and strategically and act tactically.
  • Effective and influential communicator in written and verbal form; Ability to design compelling presentations.
  • Detail oriented with strong follow through; Organize and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Have a sense of urgency in managing time and accomplishing tasks.
  • Ability to inspire, think creatively and strategically and act tactically.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiations, and team building skills.
  • Ability to assess relatively complex situations and analyze data to make judgments and recommend solutions.
  • Create and maintain a cooperative team environment that promotes high performance standards and attainment of goals.
